Daraban (CCIR): We did out duty towards state budget and sometimes we do not see why we are punished

November 30, 2023

Companies in Romania which present reports every year prove they have done their duty towards the state budget , but sometimes we do not understand why we should be punished,”said Mihai Daraban, the president of the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Romania (CCIR) on Thursday, at the National Company Top Gala 2023.   “From figures I have seen, coming from fiscal bodies, comparing similar periods, 2021 and 2022, I saw there are 44,000 more companies that sent their reports to fiscal bodies. The business figure has grown from 392 billion euros to 494 billion euros, a significant growth. Last but not least, gross profit has grown from 41.5 to 54.6 billion euros. We want to continue if we are left alone. Sometimes I feel that if we trebled the busines sfigure or profit we would not be able to satisfy the consumption appetite of the Romanian state, of the administrative body in particular. I think that by means of those figure we provd we did our duty towards the state budget and sometimes we do not understand why we have to be punished. Moreover, the Chamber of Trade does not represent the 360,000 companies which do not present their fiscal reports, although they appear as active and functioning at the Justice Ministry. I remember that 9 years ago there were 140,000 but have become 360,000,” Daraban said.   According to CCIR data, the business figure of companies occupying the first ten positions in the 2023 National Company Top (TNF) is about 230 billion euros, and the exploitation profit is about 27 billion euros. This year, 13.030 companies were included among the first ten present in the specialised top.   The share of profit in business figures for the first ten comopanies represents 9.6% of the overall business figure, while the total number of employees is 1,359,833.   The most significant domains, as share, according to the number of companies includedin Top 10 are: industry (35.1%) and services (28.4%), trade (20.7%), agriculture, silviculture and fishing (4.9%), constructions (4.6%), researh-development and high-tech (3.7%) and tourism (2.3%).   According to the business figure, trade has a share of 44.8% of the total business figure of companies, followed by industry (35.6%) and services (11.3%). The most profitable companies are in industry, with a profit of 45.9% of overall profit and a profit share of 12.4% of the business figure of companies in that segment.   The TNF 2023 top analysed 846,452 financial balance sheets of active sompanies in Romania. Of them, 327,867 balance sheet entered the compeition for the first ten places in of the national top, according to top making methods implemented by the Chamber of Trade in all counties.   As of 1994, CCIR has organized the National Company Top, being the only institution authorised by an organic law to establish such a top at country level.
