Nearly 580 companies, sole traders in Romania file for insolvency nine months into 2023

The number of insolvent companies and sole traders in Romania decreased by 3.96% in the first nine months of 2023, y-o-y, to 4,578 insolvencies, according to data published on the website of the National Companies Registry (ONRC).Most of the insolvent companies and sole traders were reported in Bucharest (903), up 9.19% from January-September 2022. Next in the insolvency rank are the counties of Bihor, 385 insolvent companies (minus 3.51%) Cluj - 270 (minus 24.16%), Constanta - 217 (plus 16.67%) and Timis - 214 .The fewest insolvencies were recorded in the counties of Botosani - 17 (minus 15%), Harghita - 18 (minus 21.74%) and Covasna - 18 (minus 25.79%).By business fields, the highest number of insolvencies was reported in wholesale, retail, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, 1,246 (minus 3.41% from the first nine months of 2022), construction - 920 (same as in the same period last year) and in the manufacturing industry - 547 (minus 10.62)In September 2023, 603 insolvencies were recorded, most of them in Bucharest (171) and in the counties of Constanta (32), Prahova (29), Bihor and Cluj (27 each).
