2023 National Company Ranking: Aggregate turnover of businesses on top ten spots at almost 280 bn euros

 The companies positioned on the top ten spots of the 2023 National Company Ranking have a combined turnover of almost 280 billion euros, and their operating profit amounts to about 27 billion euros, shows data released on Thursday by Romania's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR).This year, a number of 13,030 companies were included in the first ten positions of the dedicated ranking. Their profit accounts for 9.6 percent of the total turnover, and the total number of employees with these entities is 1,359,833.By the number of companies included in the Top 10 ranking, the most significant fields are: industry (35.1 percent), services (28.4 percent), trade (20.7 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishing (4.9 percent), construction (4.6 percent), research-development & high-tech (3.7 percent), tourism (2.3 percent).Trade holds a share of 44.8 percent of the total turnover of the companies, followed by industry (35.6 percent) and services (11.3 percent). Industrial companies are the most profitable, with 45.9 percent of the aggregate profit, and a profit share of 12.4 percent of the turnover of the businesses in this segment.The 2023 National Company Ranking was put together based on 846,452 financial and accounting statements of entities active in Romania. Of these, 327,867 entered the competition for the leading ten places in the national ranking, in accordance with the methodology applied by the Chambers of Commerce in all of Romania's counties.The National Company Ranking is based on the following economic indicators: net turnover, operating profit, operating profit rate, efficiency in the use of human resources, and efficiency in the use of capital employed, and lists the best performing companies in seven economic fields: Industry, Services, Trade, Tourism, Research-Development & High-Tech, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, and Construction.The Gala of the 2023 National Company Ranking will take place on Thursday evening at the Romexpo Exhibition Center.
