A total of 47,854 companies were struck off the register nationwide in the first nine months of 2023, 7.9% fewer than in the same period last year, according to statistics from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).The highest number of companies that suspended their activity in the mentioned interval were from Bucharest municipality - 7,900, down 6.21% compared to January-September 2022.By activity sectors, the highest number of dissolved companies was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles - 12,109 (minus 14.02%, compared to January - September 2022), professional, scientific and technical activities - 4,178 (minus 3.47%), construction - 3,759 (minus 20.19%) and agriculture, forestry and fishing - 3,583 (+3.92%).In September 2023, there were 4,860 firm dissolutions, most of them in Bucharest (926) and in the counties of Cluj (268), Constanta (202) and Timis (200).
