New UK Ambassador to Bucharest - received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs

The minister of foreign affairs, Luminita Odobescu received on Friday the ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Romania, Giles Portman, on the occasion of the presentation of the accreditation letters.In this context, MFA reminds the fact that Romania will host in 2024 the second edition of the Bilateral Forum Romania – UK as continuation of the event inaugurated in London on 23rd March this year.Similarly, minister Odobescu spoke about the important role of collaboration in the domain of defence and security and the significant potential existing in the sphere of bilateral economic relations, both as commercial exchanges and as investments.She reiterated the substantial contribution of the 1.2 million Romanians established in the UK to intensify the bilateral relations.During the discussions, there were mentioned  the present context of security marked by the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East with the focus on ‘ the importance of coordination of the two states for the efforts to create a safer international environment’.
