Over 70 pct of Romanians believe that the country should not leave the EU and NATO

  More than 70% of Romanians believe that our country should not leave the European Union and NATO, according to an opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research in November.When asked whether Romania should leave the EU, 25.7% of respondents said it should, while 70.3% thought Romania should remain a member of the EU. 4% of respondents did not know or did not answer this question.Regarding NATO, 77.3% of those who answered the survey said that Romania should remain a member, 18.9% thought that Romania should leave NATO, and 3.8% said they did not know or did not answer.To the question "what do you think about NATO and the US sending more troops to Romania", 57.1% of Romanians said they had a good opinion, because it protects us from Russia, 35.5% had a bad opinion, because this "will upset Russia", and 7.4% did not know or did not answer.In the event of a war in which Romania was attacked, 50.5% of respondents said they would fight to defend their country, 11.8% would hide until the war passed, 19.4% - would emigrate, 5.6% - would get a medical certificate to be declared unfit to fight.Asked who they think is the main culprit for the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza, 35.7% of respondents indicated Hamas, 9.6% - the US, 9% - Israel, 7.1% - Arab countries, 6.6% - Russia, and 4.2% - Iran. 25.7% did not know, and 2.1% did not answer this question.49.8% of Romanians think that Russia is the main culprit for the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, 14.6% think the US, 8.8% - Ukraine, 4.6% - NATO, and 2.9% - EU. When asked "who do you think will win the war in Ukraine", 34.5% of respondents said Ukraine, and 32.6% - Russia.Respondents to the survey were also asked about their biggest fear about the war in Ukraine. 41.6% of them mentioned rising prices and cost of living, 23.9% - Russia attacking NATO member countries, 19.5% said they had no fear, and 12.1% were worried about the growing number of refugees.According to the survey, half of Romanians (53.3%) get their information about the war in Ukraine from TV broadcasters, 16.5% follow information on this topic on social networks, and 11.7% said they are not very interested in the subject. Some 30% of them also said that the information circulating in our country today about the war in Ukraine is generally accurate, while 42.1% said it was incorrect.More than half of those questioned (56.4%) said that the country that represents a danger for Romania is Russia, 8.6% said Hungary, 8.2% - USA, 6.6% - China, 4% - Ukraine, 0.9% - Germany.The opinion poll was conducted by INSCOP Research on behalf of New Strategy Center and the data was collected between 6-14 November 2023. The margin of error is plus/minus 2.95% at 95% confidence level.
