The number of companies who suspended their activity in Romania in Jan-Oct 2023 up 2.76pct

 The number of companies that suspended their activity in the first ten months of 2023 was 12,523, up 2.76% compared to the same period in 2022, according to data published by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).The most companies that suspended their activity in the mentioned interval were based in Bucharest, respectively 1,475 (their number increasing by 23.99% compared to January-October 2022), followed by the Cluj-based counties, 826 (an increase by 41.68%), Brasov - 577 (plus 12.04%), Iasi - 541 (plus 0.56%) and Bihor - 484 (plus 2.33%).At the opposite side of the scale, the fewest suspensions were recorded in the counties of Giurgiu - 80 (down 25.23% compared to the first ten months of 2022), Ialomita - 80 (plus 15.94%), Tulcea - 84 (minus 22 .94%) and Covasna - 91 (minus 5.21%).By field of activity, the largest number of suspensions was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 3,062 (-11.5%), in professional, scientific and technical activities - 1,232 suspensions (plus 13, 34%) and information and communications - 1,118 suspensions (+38.54%).In October 2023, 1,222 suspensions of companies were registered, the most in Bucharest (133) and in the counties of Cluj (66), Iasi (65) and Brasov (55).
