Tourism: Arrivals at tourist structures rising by 11.3% in first ten months

Arrivals recorded in tourist structures (including apartments and rooms to rent), over January 1- Cotober 31, 2023, recorded 11.794 million persons, on the rise by 11.3% compared to the same period of 2022, according to data of the National Statistic Institute (INS) released on last Tuesday.   Of the total number of arrivals in the 10 months of 2023, arrivals of Romanian tourists in tourist structures represented 84.6% while foreign tourits represented 15.4%.   Overnight stays in tourits structures (including apartments and rooms to rent) amounted to 25.546 millions, on the rise by 10.6% against the same period of 2022. In the first 10 months of 2023, Romanian tourist who spent nights in tourist structure represented 84.9%, while foreign tourists represented 15.1%. The average stay in the mentioned period of time was 1.2 days for Romanian tourists and 2.1 days for foreign tourists.   The net use index for tourist accommodation was 31.5% for all tourist structures, on the rise by 1.4% compared to the same period of 2022.   In the analysed period of 2023, counties that recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals were: Constanta (1.528 million persons), Bucharest (1.527 million persons) and Brasov (1.271 million persons). The highest number of tourists who spent nights in tourist structures (including apartments and rooms to rent) was recorded in Constanta (5.093 millions), Bucharest (3.027 millions) and Brasov (2.394 millions).   The highest number of foreign tourist arrivals in tourist accommodation structures in the first ten months of 2023 came from: Germany (192,700 persons), Italy (151,800 persons) and Israel (144,000 persons).   Arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, recorded at border crossing points were 12.619 million persons over January 1- October 31, 2023, on the rise by 17.8% against the same period of 2022. 16,601 Romanian visitors went abroad, on the rise by 12.7% compared to the same period of 2022.   According to INS, arrivals recorded in tourist structures in October 2023 amounted to 1.94 million persons, on the rise by 4.4% against those of October 2022. Of the total number of arrivals in October 2023, arrivals of Romanian tourists in tourist accommodation structures represented 82.8% and those of foreign tourists 17.2%. Nights spent in tourist accommodation structure (including apartments and rooms for rent) in October 2023 amounted to2.222 millions, on the rise by 1.6%, against the same period of 2022. Of the overall number of nights spent in October 2023, Romanian tourist represented 82.3%, while foreign tourists recorded 17.7%.   The average stay in October 2023 was 2 days for Romanian tourists and 2.1 days for foreign tourists. The net use index for tourist accommodation in October 2023 was 29.9% of all tourist structures, on the drop by 0.6% against October 2022.   Arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, recorded at border crossing points in October 2023 amounted to 1.203 million persons, on the rise by 9% against October 2022. 1.607 million Romanians left for foreign countries, on the rise by 7%, compared to October 2022.
