Romsilva has scheduled the harvesting of 9.3 million cubic meters of wood from state forests in 2024

The National Forestry Regia (RNP) - Romsilva has scheduled for 2024 the harvesting of 9.3 million cubic meters (m3) of wood from forests owned by the state, of which 4.81 million m3 as sawn timber and 4.49 million m3 as standing timber, according to data announced by Romsilva management.  Last year, Romsilva increased by 24% the volume of sawn timber placed on the market, harvested from state-owned forests. In the first 11 months of 2023 alone, more than 3.9 million cubic metres of sawn timber were harvested by Romsilva's own forces or under service contracts with certified operators, 688,400 cubic metres more than in the same period of 2022. The average price of sawn timber, for the assortments intended for industrialisation, obtained from electronic auctions, was 503 lei/mc, excluding VAT.    ‘From the total volume of timber, in the first eleven months of 2023 were put to value by the economic operators and natural persons 3.53 million cubic metres, the difference of volume being found  in recovery procedures. The established volume to be harvested and put to value as sawn timber was 50% of the harvest programme for 2023, in accordance with the procedures of the Forestry Code’ said at the end of last year the general manager of Romsilva, Daniel Nicolaescu.According to him, the recovery of the cut timber was carried out by RNP - Romsilva from the 1,076 timber storage sites, out of which 327 permanent and 749 temporary, where the specialists sort the timber, each piece getting the adequate industrial destiny.The specialists sort the timber, each piece getting the adequate industrial destiny.Also, in the first 11 months of last year, 4,115,900 cubic meters of timber per foot were harvested from the state-owned forests managed by the regie, at an average price of 309.41 lei/mc, excluding VAT.   "All the timber harvested by the National Forestry Regia - Romsilva, whether cut or standing, was sold through an electronic auction platform, a system that ensures transparency, fair and unlimited access for participants and competitive conditions," said the head of Romsilva.   Romsilva administers 3.13 million hectares of state-owned forests, about 48% of the country's forests, and provides forestry services for about one million hectares of forests under other forms of ownership. All state-owned forests are certified for forest management to international standards.   Romsilva also manages 22 national and state parks and 12 state herds.
