Eurostat: the Romanians were in 2022 among the most satisfied with their life Europeans

February 14, 2024

The Austrians are the Europeans who, in 2022 stated they were the most contended with their life, in general, and the least satisfied were the Bulgarians, according to the data published on Monday by the European Office for Statistics (Eurostat).   Required to self-evaluate themselves on a scale from one (very disatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied)the level of satisfaction to life in general, the Austrians were the first, with 7.9 points, over the European average of 7.1.   The second position for the level of satisfaction is shared by the Finns, the Poles and the Romanians, all with a score of 7.7. There follows at a very small distance, the Belgiens and the Dutch, each with 7.6 points.   The most reduced level of satisfaction with life was found among the Bulgarians (5.6), Germans (6.5 points) and Greek (6.7 points). The Italians and the French are about the European average, with 7.2 points and 7 points respectively.   In all European states, besides Bulgaria, the average evaluation of the level of satisfaction is over 6, so the majority of the European citizens state they are rather satisfied with their life than disatisfied.   This level of satisfaction may be influence by factors such as age, level of education, financial and family situation as well as the diversity of the experiences, options, priorities and individual values, says Eurostat.   This  subjective indicator of the welfare of the European citizens is included in the European statistics regarding income and living conditions (EU-SILC).
