Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu's participation in the National Council of the Sanitas Federation

January 17, 2024

PRESS RELEASE

The healthcare personnel's demands will be analyzed by a working team made up of Sanitas representatives and experts from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Health.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila honored today the invitation to participate in the National Council of the Sanitas Federation, during which they discussed the demands of the healthcare personnel.
Following this discussion, they decided to create a working team made up of representatives of the Sanitas Federation and experts from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Health, to analyze in detail the problems specific to each health sector and each professional category in the healthcare field, Sanitas representatives appreciating in this context Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu's openness to find appropriate solutions.
We want to maintain an honest and applied dialogue for each reported problem, to ensure the personnel and financial resources that healthcare needs, but to be effective, the measures must be phased according to the emergency and the resources available. The healthcare system in Romania must reach optimal parameters and respond to the needs and expectations of Romanians. Unfortunately, shortcomings accumulated over the years cannot be corrected at once. With a plan like the PNRR, with access to financing from the European Investment Bank, Romania has a unique chance to turn the medical system around, but also to put it on a normal path that cannot be derailed. Constant dialogue is the solution for the problems to be corrected as soon as possible, stated Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
