Mesajul transmis cu prilejul Sarbătorii Hanuka de premierul Marcel Ciolacu

December 7, 2023

The Hanukkah celebration is a moment of joy, with great emotional and symbolic significance, a form of manifestation of the faith, identity, and values shared by the members of the Jewish community.
The lamp that illuminated the Temple for eight days without going out represents the symbol of the miracle of the Jewish Tradition, of the Covenant between Israel and God. A Covenant that otherwise kept this community and this faith alive amid all the nations among which the Jews lived and despite the most relentless attacks. Furthermore, it embodies the faith that this testimony will remain pure and unquenchable in todays world.
The Festival of Lights gives us all an opportunity to reflect on recent events. This year, with each lit candle, we stand with those who fight against terrorism and keep alive the memory of the victims who lost their lives as a result of the atrocities committed on October 7, 2023. In this respect, I assure you that Romania remains a solid partner of the State of Israel and at the same time, a supporter of the efforts dedicated to identifying a sustainable peace solution in the Middle East.
The Festival of Lights gives me the occasion to convey to the Federation of Jewish Communities leadership in our country, as well as to the entire Jewish community, the warmest wishes for well-being and peace!
Hag Hanuka Sameah!
