Romanian, Kazakh transport ministers discuss cooperation in cargo transport

  Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Sorin Grindeanu and his counterpart from the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, who is on an official visit to Romania, discussed on Wednesday the opportunities for cooperation in the area of cargo transport for the Romania - Black Sea - Caucasus - Caspian Sea - Republic of Kazakhstan area, crossed by the "Middle Corridor," which includes the "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR Route).""Constructive meeting with my counterpart from the Republic of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, on an official visit to Romania! We discussed cooperation opportunities in the area of cargo transportation for the area Romania - Black Sea - Caucasus Region - Caspian Sea - Republic of Kazakhstan, crossed by the 'Middle Corridor', which includes the 'Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR Route)'. In this context, I highlighted the importance of exploiting the Port of Constanta as an important transit hub for cargo traffic from the countries of the Caspian Sea Basin and Central and South-East Asia," reads a post Grindeanu wrote on his Facebook page.Two memoranda were also signed at the meeting organised by the Transport Ministry on Wednesday. The first Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan concerns cooperation in the area of transport and transport infrastructure.The second Memorandum concerns cooperation in the area of aviation accident and incident investigation and was signed between the Civil Aviation Safety Investigation and Analysis Authority (AIAS) of Romania and the Department for Investigation of Transport Accidents and Incidents of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.The meeting was attended by representatives of national and private transport and logistics companies, Kazakh state authorities, Romania's Ambassador in Astana Madalina Lupu and Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Bucharest Yerlik Ali.
