ONRC: 6,650 firms and PFAs went into insolvency in 2023

The number of the companies and authorised natural persons (PFA) that went into insolvency last year was 6,650, up by only 0.02% against 2022, when there were 6,649 insolvencies registered, according to the data published on the site of the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).Most companies and authorised natural persons getting into insolvency were registered in Bucharest, namely 1,289, up by 11.8% against the period January – December 2022. Next were the counties of Bihor with 599 insolvencies (+9.91%), Cluj- 391 (-18.03%), Timis -327 (+16.79%) and Constanta -310 (+25%).The fewest insolvencies were registered in Covasna county – 21 (-27.59%), Harghita – 32 (+10.34%), Mehedinti – 37 (-21.28%) and Botosani- 38 (+46.15%).Only in December 2023 were registered 569 insolvencies, most in Bucharest, namely 102.By industry, the highest number of insolvencies was recorded in wholesale, retail trade, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair - 1,781 (minus 2.46% compared to January-December 2022), construction - 1,322 (plus 2.96%) and manufacturing - 795 (minus 6.25%).
