In a plenary sitting on Monday, the Romanian Senate held two moments of silence, in memory of the victims of the war in Ukraine, which started two years ago, and in memory of National Liberal Party (PNL) senator Catalin Toma, who died on Saturday.On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine on four fronts, brought war back to Europe and triggered an international crisis with lasting effects.Another moment of silence took place for Catalin Toma, a senator in the 2016-2020 legislature."On Saturday, Catalin Toma, a senator in the previous legislature, passed away; he was a man whom many of our colleagues knew, which is why I ask you to hold a moment of silence. At 46 years old, unfortunately, he passed away," said the leader of PNL senators, Daniel Fenechiu.The president of Vrancea County Council, Catalin Toma, died on Saturday morning at a hospital in Bucharest, where he had arrived a day earlier in critical condition.
