Romanian, Turkish national business organisations sign Cooperation Memorandum

March 21, 2024

President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) Mihai Daraban, and the president of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu signed on February 21 a new Memorandum of Cooperation for the continued development of stronger bilateral business relations. Also, the guidelines for a mutually beneficial economic cooperation were established, the CCIR said in a release."With over three million tax-paying member companies, TOBB is the strongest legal entity in Turkey to represent the interests of the private sector; its activity is governed by a legal framework inspired by the European model, which provides for the companies' mandatory membership of the Turkish trade chamber," the release states."The Memorandum of Cooperation that we signed today with TOBB, an event that resonates with our countries' exceptional political relationship, will outline a tighter closeness between Romania and Turkey's business environments which will thus be able to easier establish business contacts. Turkey remains Romania's most important trade partner among non-EU states; an important pillar in CCIR's strategy is the internationalization of Romanian business to the space outside the EU, a context where Turkey's G20 membership represents an advantage of top importance for Romania," CCIR president Mihai Daraban said.In his turn, TOBB head Rifat Hisarciklioglu emphasized that the conclusion of this new Memorandum of Cooperation with CCIR will provide a useful foundation for strengthening the political relationship between the two states, Romania being a supporter of Turkey's interests in relation with the European Union and NATO.
