Acting president Bolojan promulgates law on control of airpspace

Acting President Ilie Bolojan promulgated, on Monday, the law regarding the control of the use of airspace.The normative act regulates a series of measures regarding the control of the use of the national airspace, establishing the authorities and institutions that have competences in taking measures to prevent and counteract the use of national airspace by aircraft, remote pilot unmanned aircraft systems and other aerial vehicles.Thus, a new framework for cooperation and coordination will be created at the level of the authorities and institutions that have competences in the management and monitoring of the national airspace, which contributes to increasing aviation safety and security.Public and private entities that own, operate or manage objectives that require protection measures against specific threats to remote pilot unmanned aircraft systems have the obligation to implement and maintain protection measures for these objectives, the regulatory act states.According to the law, by decision of the Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT), the following are established: the objectives that require protection measures against specific threats to remote pilot unmanned aircraft systems provided for in the project; the general technical requirements of the equipment and systems provided for, upon the proposal of the structures of the national defence, law enforcement and national security system.Within 60 days from the date of entry into force of this law, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Special Telecommunications Service and the Protection and Guard Service shall approve the joint orders regarding the general cooperation framework regarding the measures ordered in situations of unauthorized use of the national airspace, the procedural aspects regarding the coordination provided for in art. 6 and 24, as well as the specific technical and operational standards for the equipment and technical systems necessary for the implementation of the protection measures, which shall be published in the Official Journal of Romania, Part I.
