People in the northern and eastern areas of Tulcea County received a new RO-ALERT warning message on Thursday morning concerning the possibility of drones or fragments of drones falling, amid the war in Ukraine.In the message, the authorities urged people to remain calm and take shelter in safe places for the next 90 minutes. Previously, Defence Ministry said no breaches of national airspace were reported after its radar surveillance system detected an aerial target on Wednesday, roughly 8 kilometres north of Vylkove in Ukraine, near the Romanian border.An IAR-330 PUMA SOCAT helicopter of the Romanian Air Force was scrambled to monitor the situation, and the air-raid alert ended at 14:44, the Ministry said.The National Military Command Center notified the Emergency Management Inspectorate General, which issued a RO-ALERT message at 13:15 for residents in northern and eastern Tulcea County, the cited source said. Since the beginning of this year, the number of RO-ALERT messages sent by the Inspectorate General for Emergency Situations (IGSU) to people in Tulcea County amid the war launched by Russia in Ukraine has exceeded the number of extreme alert messages sent in Romania for the same reason between 2023 and 2025.
