Agriculture: Agricultural production value reaches almost 110 billion lei in 2023

The value of agricultural production increased 0.6% in 2023 compared to the previous year, totaling 109.89 billion lei in current prices, according to final data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Tuesday.Crop production in 2023 increased 2.1% to 66.26 billion lei in comparable prices, while livestock production fell 2.5% to 40.65 billion lei.According to the statistics, in 2023 as well, crop production held the largest share (60.3%) in the structure of the value of agricultural production, down 5.3 percentage points (pp) compared to the previous year.The value of crop production, in 2023 compared to 2022, increased in the development regions West (+15 pp), North-West (+10.7 pp), North-East (+9 pp), South-East (+5.2 pp), South-West Oltenia (+3.3 pp), Centre (+2.3 pp). Decreases were recorded in the development regions: South-Muntenia (-11.7 pp) and Bucharest-Ilfov (-5.4 pp).In 2023, compared to 2022, the value of livestock production increased in the Centre and West development regions (+1 pp), while in the other development regions the value of livestock production decreased between 22 pp and 3.1 pp.The value of agricultural services recorded increases in the development regions Centre (+41.3 pp), North-West (+30,6 pp), West (+18.7 pp), Bucharest-Ilfov (+13.5 pp), while in the other development regions it recorded decreases ranging from 22.2 pp to 1.6 pp.According to the statistics, crop production has the highest share in the agricultural production in all development regions of the country, with values ranging from 53.1% (Centre development region) to 69.3% (South-West Oltenia development region).The INS points out that the Bucharest-Ilfov development region is not included in the analysis, as it is insignificant in terms of its share in the value of agricultural production at national level.In 2023 compared to 2022, the structure of the value of production of the agricultural branch registered the main increases in the North-West, Centre, North-East (+1.1 pp) and West (+0.8 pp) development regions. The most important decreases were recorded in the development regions South-Muntenia (-3.4 pp) and South-East Oltenia (-0.5 pp).In the structure of crop production in the year 2023, the largest share belongs to the development regions: South-Muntenia (21.5%), South-East (16.5%) and North-East (14.8%), while in the structure of livestock production of the same year, the largest share is held by the development regions: North-East (20%), North-West and Centre (15.3%), South-Muntenia (14.8%) and South-East (12.6%).
