Romania's exports of cereals and cereal-based products over January - August 2024 amounted to 2.398 billion euros, 18% less compared to the year-ago period, shows data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).In the same period, Romania imported cereals and cereal-based products worth 989.2 million euros (-11.2 percent), resulting in a trade surplus for this product category of 1.408 billion euros.According to the INS, between January and August 2024 Romania exported wheat and meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye) worth 1.115 billion euros, and corn worth 615,853 million euros.Cereal exports to EU countries amounted to 563.5 million euros, the highest being to Bulgaria (49 million euros), France (46.8 million euros) and Greece (33.6 million euros).Imports from EU countries totaled 243.3 million euros, the highest volumes coming from Bulgaria (86.8 million euros), France (37.3 million euros) and Germany (3.1 million euros).
