Turnover generated by Romania's forestry units totalled RON 4.132 billion in 2025, down 21.5% from RON 5.26 billion a year earlier, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Compared with 2024, sales volumes declined for forest and ornamental seedlings from forest nurseries (down 23.8%), forest seeds (down 20.1%) and processed timber (down 4.3%). By contrast, sales increased for most other forestry products, led by sawn timber and other semi-finished wood products (up 81.4%), wild berries (up 70.1%), honey (up 26.1%), truffles and other wild edible mushrooms (up 21.4%), game meat (up 16.0%) and standing timber (up 15.4%).In 2025, the volume of standing timber sold reached 8.056 million cubic metres, while processed timber sales totalled 4.597 million cubic metres. Sales of sawn timber and other semi-finished wood products amounted to 41,000 cubic metres, an increase of 81.4% year-on-year.The average selling price of standing timber was RON 230.1 per cubic metre in 2025, while processed timber averaged RON 335.3 per cubic metre.Of the total volume of timber sold last year, 63.5% consisted of standing timber, 36.2% processed timber and 0.3% sawn timber and other semi-finished wood products.
