Agriculture: Value of agricultural productions down by 100.5 B lei in 2024

The value of agricultural production decreased by 4.3% last year against 2023, totaling 100.5 billion lei at current prices, according to final data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Crop production also held the largest share (55%) in the structure of the value of agricultural production in 2024, down by 5.3 percentage points compared to the previous year.According to the INS, the value of plant production, in 2024 compared to 2023, recorded an increase in the South-Muntenia development region (+4.8 percentage points) and decreases in the development regions: Bucharest - Ilfov (-25.7 pp), South-West Oltenia (-22.1 pp), North-East (-17.6 pp), North-West (-13.7 pp), South-East (-12.9 pp), West (-8.5 pp) and Centre (-5.8 pp).Last year, the value of animal production recorded increases in the development regions: Centre (+12.7 pp), South-East (+7.7 pp), West (+7.2 pp), South-West Oltenia (+6.2 pp), North-West (+6.0 pp), South-Muntenia (+3.2 pp) and decreases in the North-East (-3.5 pp) and Bucharest - Ilfov (-1 pp).The value of agricultural services recorded increases in the development regions of South-West Oltenia (+21.7 pp) and Bucharest - Ilfov (+13.7 pp) while, in the other development regions, it recorded decreases ranging between 32 pp and 11.1 pp.Crop production has the highest share in the production of the agricultural branch in all development regions of the country, with values ranging between 47.3% (development region Centre) and 68.2% (development region South-Muntenia).In 2024 compared to 2023, the structure of the value of the production of the agricultural branch recorded the main increases in the development regions of South-Muntenia (+1.3 pp), Centre (+1 pp), Bucharest - Ilfov (+0.4 pp) and West (+0.2 pp). The most important decreases were recorded in the development regions of South-West Oltenia (-1.2 pp) and North-East (-1.1 pp).In the structure of plant production in 2024, the largest share belongs to the development regions: South-Muntenia (24.9%), South-East (16%) and North-East (13.8%), while, in the structure of animal production of the same year, the largest share belongs to the development regions: North-East (18.3%), Centre (16.4%), North-West (15.7%), South-Muntenia (14.4%) and South-East (12.8%), respectively.
