The northern area of Tulcea County has once again been under air alert after groups of drones were detected heading towards Ukrainian airspace, near Romania's airspace, on Sunday evening."The armed forces of the Russian Federation have carried out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, close to the river border with Romania. As a result of detecting groups of drones over the Black Sea heading towards Ukrainian airspace, near Romania's airspace, the National Military Command Centre (nucleus) notified the Inspectorate General for Emergency Situations at 23:34 about the establishment of an air alert in the northern area of Tulcea County. To monitor the situation in the airspace, two F-16 aircraft from the Romanian Air Force, on active combat duty for Air Police, took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base," the Defence Ministry informed in a press release .According to the source, the air alert ended around 00:45, and the F-16 aircraft returned to their base airfield.Romania's radar surveillance system, which continuously monitored the situation generated by these attacks, did not detect the intrusion of any aerial vehicles involved in the attack on Ukrainian targets into national airspace.Starting Monday morning, according to established procedures for these situations, the National Defence Ministry (MApN) forces will conduct searches in areas of national territory near the targets that were illegally attacked by Russian forces, to identify any potential impacts from aerial vehicles or debris.MApN has informed and continues to provide real-time updates to allied structures regarding the situations generated by the attacks, maintaining permanent contact with them. The Ministry reiterates its strong condemnation of these attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure targets, which are unjustified and in grave contradiction with international law norms.
