Alfa Cartel National Union Confederation requested the government, taking into account the negative answer of the Economic and Social Council, to reconsider the draft law on the package of fiscal measures with written suggestions to the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue, before assuming responsibility. Unions consider that the rulers' attitude defies workers, both in point of measures and exceptions included and the faulty communication. They say the package of fiscal measures is a rip-off of the 1990s type.In their opinion, the draft law has incoherent proposals, which shows it is made according to group interests. According to the source, certain facilities will be cut off from certain employee categories (IT, agriculture, constructions) but increases of 25% daily allowances approved in February 2023 for members of parliament are kept untouched. Contributions for lunch tickets and holiday bonuses are introduced while some categories are exempted from the payment of contributions to the public pension fund (notaries, lawyers). According to Alfa Cartel representatives, sudden changes in regulations undermine understandings and place both parties, employers and employees in a losing situation. Alfa Cartel Confederation was set up in 1990 to offer Romanian workers a real and democratic representation. The confederation is representative at national level, gathering 38 union federations at sector level and coordinates the activity of 42 territorial branches.
