Ambassador Nicolas Warnery expects ''a favourable evolution'' of French investments in Romania in 2024

March 24, 2024

Ambassador Nicolas Warnery stated on Friday, that he estimates that there will be ‘favourable evolution’ of French investments in Romania this year, a first step being made in Sibiu, which is on Friday ‘ the economic capital of Francophonie’ by hosting for the first time a reunion attended by five Francophone business clubs.   ‘For the first time we have in Sibiu a reunion of five Francophone business clubs which have been set up progressively on the Romanian territory and which collaborate tightly with the Romanian Embassy and with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, benefitting from their expertise. We are talking about economic development and about the fact that Sibiu is today the economic capital of Francophonie.Work is being done to strengthen economic relations and to develop them. They are developing at this very moment and we believe that there will be a favourable development’ said the French ambassador, answerting the question whether French investment in our country is likely to increase this year.According to the French diplomat ‘ cooperation between the Depatment Ille et Vilaine and Sibiu is a very old collaboration’. ‘ We have  already celebrated  30 years since its existence which started in the domain of solidarity and the humanitarian domain and which extended in several other domains, among which agriculture, tourism, linguistic collaboration and so on. We are talking a but an extemely old collaboration which is going to go on’ said ambassador Nicolas Warney. He showed that this is an example of good practice in Sibiu for the last 30 years of the department Ille et Vilaine.‘I would like to say that I appreciate the originality of Sibiu and the fact that this French House Ille et Vilaine which exists here, in Sibiu and which was set up more than 30 years ago, it an excellent example of decentralized cooperation between the local collectivities in France and Romania. It seems to me that we are talking about an extraordinary example of collaboration. The French house collaborates with the Francophone Business Club, the Francophone Business Club Sibiu and this initiative seems extraordinary’ the French ambassador said. Ambassador Nicolas Warnery was on a visit in Sibiu on the occasion of‘France Days in Sibiu’ (22- 24 February). On this occasion, the ambassador met on Friday in Sibiu with people of culture and business and will also discuss with the mayor of the country town, Astrid Fodor.
