(...) With the election as president, both Mr. Nicu?or Dan and the future Government, together with the Romanian Parliament, have to quickly solve the equation with many unknowns of deficits. It is an Olympic problem, but we are confident that together, through dialogue and real consultations, at the level of professionals from the public and private sectors, and with the same level of respect and balance between the objectives generated by the reduction of deficits and those of the taxpayers who support the Romanian economy, we will find the correct and equitable solutions," AmCham representatives claim in a statement sent on Tuesday. They emphasize that the immediate positive reactions of the markets demonstrate that a first step has been taken towards restoring confidence in the Romanian economy, the stakes now being to maintain and consolidate this confidence through firm, rapid and mature decisions. The legitimate expectation of the local and international business community, rating agencies and international bodies is the formation without delay of a stable and credible Government, supported by a solid parliamentary majority, capable of assuming responsibility for substantive reforms and urgent economic decisions, the press release states."After a prolonged electoral period that has made Romania economically, socially and institutionally vulnerable, we are seeing signs of optimism and confidence today, both domestically and internationally. Although a difficult stage is ahead, in which immediate measures are needed in the short term, it is at the same time a period in which Romania has real opportunities to reposition itself strategically in the region and within the strategic partnership with the US", declared Vlad Boeriu, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, quoted in the press release. The business community that AmCham Romania represents, 600 American, international and Romanian companies active in 32 economic sectors, with a 20% contribution to Romania's GDP, reiterates its support for the flat rate and the elimination of exotic tax measures, the unblocking of European money, the reduction of tax evasion, the streamlining of public spending, administrative reform, meritocracy in the public apparatus."We are aware that a series of measures with economic impact are coming and it is essential that the business environment be co-opted into a real and constructive dialogue for the benefit of Romania," concluded Vlad Boeriu. The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania - AmCham Romania is the most representative business association, recognized for facilitating a consistent public-private dialogue on the economic agenda and for contributing to strengthening economic relations between Romania and the United States.AmCham member companies together provide over 250,000 jobs and generate a cumulative turnover of over 65 billion euros.AmCham Romania members operate in 32 economic sectors, which makes it possible for AmCham to be involved in promoting economic priorities for many areas of activity, through specialized working groups, such as: Capital Markets and Financial Services, Corporate Governance, Competition and State Aid, Energy, Education, Digital Economy, Personal Data Protection, Taxation, Environment, Labor Market, Health, European Funds, Public Procurement and Public-Private Partnership, Real Estate, Commercial Legislation, and Tourism.AmCham Romania is an accredited member of the US Chamber of Commerce and is part of the European network of American Chambers of Commerce.
