Annual inflation in Romania rises to 13.76pct in April 2022

1. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) – indicator for determining inflation at national level   - Consumer prices were up 3.7% in April 2022 from March 2022. - The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (April 2022 compared to December 2021) is 7.9%. - The annual inflation rate in April 2022 compared to April 2021 is 13.8%. - The average consumer price rate over the last 12 months (May 2021-April 2022) as compared to the previous 12 months (May 2020-April 2021) is 7.4%.   2. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) – indicator for determining inflation across the EU   - The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices in April 2022 compared to March 2022 is 102.37%. - The HICP-based annual inflation rate in April 2022 compared to April 2021 is 11.7%. - The HICP-based average consumer price rate over the last 12 months (May 2021-April 2022) as compared to the previous 12 months (May 2020-April 2021) is 6.4%.   The annual inflation rate in Romania rose to 13.76% in April 2022, from 10.15% in March, as prices for non-foods rose by 16.35%, for foods by 13.54%, and for services by 7.11%, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Consumer prices in April 2022, as against March 2022, increased by 3.7%. The inflation rate at the beginning of the year (April 2022 against December 2021) is 7.9%. The annual inflation rate in April 2022 against April 2021 is 13.8%. Consumer prices in the last 12 months (May 2021 - April 2022) as against the previous 12 months (May 2020 - April 2021) advanced 7.4%.According to INS, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in April 2022 compared with March 2022 is 102.37%. The annual inflation rate in April 2022 against the HICP is 11.7%. The average increase rate in consumer prices in the last 12 months (May 2021 - April 2022) as against the previous 12 months (May 2020 - April 2021) against HICP is 6.4%.The National Bank of Romania (BNR) expects inflation to reach 11.2% at the end of the second quarter of 2022, 10.2% at the end of the third quarter of this year and of 9.6% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, according to the BNR Quarterly Inflation Report.
