The number of commercial companies and authorized individuals (PFAs) that became insolvent in the first ten months of this year was 5,896, an increase of 9.63% compared to the similar period in 2023, when 5,378 insolvencies were registered, according to the data on the website of the National Registry Office of Commerce (ONRC).The most companies and PFAs that filed for insolvency between January 1 and October 31, 2024 were registered in Bucharest, respectively 1,053, a number down by 2.86% compared to the first ten months of 2023.On the following places in the classification of insolvencies are the counties of Bihor, with 486 insolvencies (plus 6.11%), Cluj - 398 (plus 23.99%), Timis - 351 (plus 33.46%), Iasi - 247 (plus 20 .49%) and Ilfov - 228 (plus 20.63%).The fewest insolvencies were recorded in the counties of Covasna - 24 (plus 11.11%), Harghita - 26 (plus 13.04%), Mehedinti - 32 (plus 14.29%) and Vaslui - 34 (minus 2, 86%).By field of activity, the largest number of insolvencies was recorded in wholesale, retail, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, respectively 1,547 (plus 6.69% compared to the first ten months of 2023), construction - 1,212 (plus 12.74 %) and in the processing industry - 696 (plus 7.91%), hotels and restaurants - 452 (15.8%).In October 2024, as many as 777 insolvencies were recorded, with most of them in Bucharest (141), Bihor (54), Cluj (45) and Timis (66).
