On Tuesday, the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) has made a recommendation to the Romanian citizens to get their information "exclusively from official sources," in the context of the war in Ukraine."Wars are not just about weapons! Fake information is just as dangerous! Only get information from official sources," CNA urges. The recommendation was voted unanimously and will be circulated locally, regionally and nationally for six months.Cristina Pocora, head of the CNA, called on the institution's inspectors "to ask local broadcasters to pay more attention to this message and also to all the recommendations given during this period" for this is "a complicated period."On Monday, the National Audiovisual Council announced that it has started checks on service distributors in the territory to ensure that no stations in the Russian Federation are broadcast in our country."The National Audiovisual Council, in its capacity as guarantor of the public interest in the field of audiovisual communication, informs that the station Russia Today is no longer broadcasting in Romania (...) The idea is to ensure that no station from the Russian Federation retransmits news on the Romanian territory," specified the CNA, in a press release.Government spokesman Dan Carbunaru said on Monday that several sites that "were spreading fake news in the context of the crisis in Ukraine" had been shut down or were about to be shut down.
