BEC registers Electoral Alliance 'Romania Forward' supporting Crin Antonescu's candidacy in presidential elections

The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) has announced that it decided, at its meeting on Saturday, to accept the registration of the protocol for the establishment of the Electoral Alliance "Romania Forward", formed by the parties in the governing coalition - PSD, PNL and UDMR, in order to support Crin Antonescu's candidacy in the presidential elections.The protocol was signed on Wednesday, February 19, by the leaders of the parties of the governing coalition, following a meeting at the Victoria Palace of Government. The alliance is also supported by the parliamentary group of national minorities.All member parties of the electoral alliance have started collecting signatures for Crin Antonescu's candidacy.According to the protocol, the alliance is legally represented as follows: on behalf of the Social Democratic Party by Marcel Ciolacu, as chairman, on behalf of the National Liberal Party by Catalin Predoiu, as interim chairman, and on behalf of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania by Kelemen Hunor, as chairman.The full name of the alliance is the Electoral Alliance Romania Forward, and the abbreviated name is "A.Ro", the document states.The electoral symbol of the Alliance is represented by a symbolic ensemble framed in a square that represents: on the left, the graphic of three rose buds with the name PSD inscribed at the base of the stems; on the right, a symbolic ensemble composed of a quadrilateral in which is inserted (an) arrow inclined at an angle of 45 degrees, with the tip pointing towards the upper right corner of the quadrilateral, surrounded by twelve stars, under which the name PNL is inscribed; in the middle, a symbolic ensemble composed of a stylized tulip and the abbreviations of the name of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania in Romanian (UDMR), respectively in Hungarian (RMDSZ), contained in a rectangular frame.The alliance is led by the PSD, PNL and UDMR chairmen. The headquarters of the alliance is in Bucharest, 57 Kiseleff Avenue, Sector 1.The Alliance has set forth the following objectives: to participate together in the elections organized on May 4 for the election of the President of Romania, including in the event of a second round; to coordinate the activities of the political parties in order to win the presidential elections; to reject violent radicalism and extremism in all its forms, by ensuring a strong political force that reaffirms its deep attachment to the principles and common values promoted by membership of the European Union and NATO; to ensure stability and internal political balance, to promote pro-European and Euro-Atlantic values and principles in relation to the current challenges.
