Writers Ana Blandiana and Ruxandra Cesereanu will represent Romania at Buch Wien 25, the Vienna International Book Fair, between November 12 and 16, according to the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR).ICR participates in the Viennese event with a literary programme and a book stand organised by the National Book Centre and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, TRADUKI and Donau Lounge."The German-language book market is an essential one for the affirmation of contemporary Romanian literature, and Romania's participation in Buch Wien 2025 gives us the opportunity to bring to the Austrian public the latest editorial publications of Romanian-language authors from Romania and Moldova, continuing our cooperation with the TRADUKI network and partners in the European cultural space," ICR Chairman Liviu Sebastian Jicman is quoted as saying in an ICR press statement released on Monday.Built around the slogan "Wir Sind Was Wir Schreiben"/"We are what we write", the Romanian presence brings to Vienna four voices of Romanian literature: Ana Blandiana, Ruxandra Cesereanu, Florin Irimia and Iulian Ciocan.Displayed at the ICR stand (B09) at Buch Wien will be recent titles by Romanian authors translated into German, books and albums published by the ICR Publishing House, translations published with support from the ICR funding programmes, carried out through the National Book Centre, volumes from the books of ICR Vienna, and books made available by partner publishers.For the first time, ICR offers the opportunity to buy books, directly at the stand, under a partnership with Diaspora Citeste.The Vienna International Book Fair is the most important literary event in Austria, with 300 exhibitors, 510 participating authors and 421 events at this year's edition.
