Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Tuesday welcomed Parliament's approval of a package of legislation required to meet Romania's commitments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), saying the government's priority was to safeguard EU funding."Today, Parliament approved an important package of laws needed to meet the milestones Romania committed to under the PNRR. The adopted legislation covers the digitalisation and efficiency of research activities, the modernisation of water management legislation, measures to improve the administration of state-owned agricultural land, and the acceleration of public investment, particularly in the construction sector. Before the vote, each ministry prepared the draft legislation in the fields of education and research, environment and agriculture. These draft laws were discussed with representatives of the European Commission, who confirmed that their provisions comply with Romania's commitments," Bolojan wrote on Facebook.According to the acting prime minister, adopting the legislation prevents financial penalties exceeding EUR 2.7 billion."We are ensuring that Romania does not lose significant European funding," he added.Bolojan also said the new measures would reduce administrative bottlenecks and speed up the implementation of ongoing investment projects."Our priority is to ensure Romania does not lose European funding and to complete the investments the country needs," he said.
