The Bookfest International Book Salon, the most important book fair in Romania, with a marked international dimension, returns to the cultural events landscape in the capital, after three years of absence, between June 1-5-22, in the B2 pavilion of the Romexpo Exhibition complex. The Honorary Guest of this edition is Japan, which proposes to the book lovers a complex programme : launches and debates starting from classic novels of the Japanese literature to events which take into consideration the popular culture domain so much loved by the young readers and the connected cultural events.“This year’s edition of Bookfest will transcend the geographical distance between Japan and Romania and, for five days, will allow the visiting public to enjoy Japan to the fullest. I invite readers to come to the Bookfest International Book Salon and step into the world of Japanese literature and culture. They will thus have the opportunity to discover a new Japan, with which they have never met before,” said Japan’s ambassador to Romania Hiroshi Ueda. Special guests will be Japanese writers and book authors about Japan, who will guide readers through the world of their creations. At the Japanese stand also awaits them a wide range of events related to different aspects of Japanese culture: from manga, which has a long tradition in Japan, being as popular as literature, to history and art. The Bookfest International Book Salon is organized by the Romanian publishers Association, under the aegis of the Romanian publishers Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Japanese Embassy in Bucharest. Bookfest has local editions in Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Targu Mures, Brasov and another international edition in Chisinau. Details, on the official page of the project: www.bookfest.ro.
