BRD Groupe Societe Generale has signed a new partnership agreement with the Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) to implement the Programme for Strengthening SMEs through improved access to finance - SME Eco-Tech, the bank announced ."We are delighted to be working with MEDAT to support SMEs on their path to sustainability and digitalisation. SME Eco Tech represents an important step in our commitment to promoting sustainable and responsible development in the entrepreneurial sector," said Lidia Capmare, director of the European and National Programs Department at BRD, in a press release.The SME Eco-Tech program offers small and medium-sized companies in the manufacturing industry access to grants and advantageous financing for sustainable investment projects, thus contributing to the consolidation and sustainable development of their businesses. Funded by Switzerland's second contribution to Romania, the programme will run until 2029 and has a total budget of CHF 53.924 million (approximately RON 289 million), of which 70% is the Swiss contribution and 30% from the state budget, the document further states.According to the cited source, approximately 800 SMEs with an eligible CAEN code in section C - Manufacturing industry will be able to submit funding applications that must include an investment project. Beneficiaries will receive mixed financial support consisting of: a grant of up to RON 267,240 (equivalent to CHF 50,000), representing up to 40% of the eligible expenses related to the investment project, and an investment loan of at least RON 400,860 (at least 60% of the eligible expenses), intended for investments in ecological and digital transformation."Investment projects may include equipment, technologies, solutions, or systems specific to energy saving, renewable energy use or generation, collection, recycling, and reuse equipment, as well as other digital equipment, technologies, solutions, systems, or applications with an impact on resource saving. Through the SME Eco-Tech program, companies benefit not only from advantageous financing, but also from the expertise and specialized support of BRD experts (Euromentor division) in implementing projects with non-reimbursable funds," the release further shows.
