Bulgaria, Greece and Romania sign transport memorandum

The Bulgarian Council of Ministers approved a Memorandum and Plan of Action among the governments of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, www.actualno.com informs.   In this document, the three countries engage in coordinated actions to ensure the future connection between the Aegean Sea, Black Sea and the Danube by joint road and railway projects.   The consolidation and completion of European transport corridors Baltic Sea- Black Sea – Aegean Sea (BSA) and Rhine- Danube represent a strategic priority for EU, ensuring a better connectivity and a relaible infrastructure for civilian, commercial and defense needs, according to the government headed by Rosen Jeliazkov.   In October an announcement was made that Bulgaria, Greece and Romania would sign with the European Commission in Brussels, in November, a cooperation accord for creating a vertical transport corridor connecting the Aegean and Black Seas.   The accord will make official plans for a multimodal corridor linking Thessaloniki and Bucharest by means of road and railway infrastructure, consolidating trade, toruism and regional connectivity. The project was described as the “highest priority” by the European commissioner for durable transport and tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, who called it “the epitome of economic cooperation in the field of crossborder infrastructure”.
