Cars: Motorcycle registrations go up by 6.9% in 2021

Total registrations of motorcycles, ATVs, scooters and microcars have gone up last year by 6.9% from the previous year, to 6,219 units, the last trimester of 2021 being in decline, according to a market analysis, published by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA)."2021 had an increasing evolution, most of the months being in positive territory from the year 2020, the last trimester of 2021 being in decline. The largest growth was registered in April (+267.1%), and the highest drop being in December (-62.6%). Analyzing the segments' evolution, the data communicated by DRPCIV (Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration) and processed by APIA, shows us that there are increases from 2020 on the segment of motorcycles (+27.1%), scooters (+26.2%) and microcars (+52.2%) and dropping for the ATV category (-10%)," the APIA representatives say.According to the quoted source, regarding the "top 5" brands, for motorcycles, the first place is occupied by both Honda and BMW (with 562 units and 20.7% market share each), followed by Yamaha (247 units and 9.1% market share), KTM (232 units and 9.1% market share) and Kawasaki (170 units and 6.3% market share).Furthermore, for the scooter category, the first 3 positions are occupied by Piaggio (138 units), Yamaha (131 units) and Honda (80 units). For ATVs, CFMOTO is in the top with 2,038 units, Linhai on second place, with 447 units and TGB on third with 198 units.
