Cars: Number of new cars registered in Romania, in March, up 35.2pct compared to March 2021

More than 13,000 new vehicles were registered in Romania in March this year, by 35.2pct more than in the same month of 2021, according to preliminary data published by the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).Of these, 11,025 were passenger cars, an increase by 40.2pct compared to March 2021.The top 5 brands are Dacia (2,495 units), followed by Ford (1,060 units), Toyota (865 units), Hyundai (863 units) and Skoda (805 units).In the three months of this year, new cars increased by 39.6pct. In terms of brand evolution, the ranking is also led by Dacia (7,405 units, up 93.3pct), followed by Hyundai (2,667 units, up 44.6pct) and Ford (2242 units, up 17.1pct).On the other hand, used cars, with the 80,209 units registered between January and March 2022, decreased by 20.8pct compared to the same period in 2021. The top brands in this category are: Volkswagen (18,892 units, decreasing by 24pct), BMW (8,075 units, down 18.4pct) and Audi (7,828 units, down 22.1pct).Regarding the registrations of new commercial vehicles (LCV, HCV, Minibus and Bus), as well as trucks, a volume of 2,000 units was registered in March 2022, by 12.7pct higher than in March 2021, and a volume of 5,276 units was registered in the three months of 2022, increasing by 3.7pct compared to the same period last year.On the other hand, used commercial vehicles registered a negative variation of 27.6pct, compared to the same period of the previous year.On the segment of new motorcycles (motorcycles, scooters, ATVs), an increase of 18.9pct was seen in March, 567 units, with an advance of 29.4pct in the first three months of this year, compared to the same period of the previous year.
