Romania is no exception and the Autovit.ro data, the largest online auto platform in Romania shows a spectacular evolution of the Chinese makes presence : between June and August 2025, interest for this category has increased significantly against the summer of previous year.   Benchmarking reveals a dramatic market transformation. The number of ads for Chinese cars listed on Autovit.ro has exploded from 201 to 448, an impressive increase of 123%. Of the total, 138 ads were for new vehicles in 2024, or 69%, while in 2025, 228 ads were for new cars, accounting for 51% of the supply. This dynamic demonstrates not only the availability of an increasingly diversified portfolio, but also the growing confidence of Romanian consumers in Chinese brands.   As a result, the financial impact of this expansion is also significant. The total value of Chinese cars present on Autovit.ro platform increased considerably, from over 4,400,000 euro during the period under analysis of 2024 to approximately 10,500,000 euro for June – August 2025, marking an extraordinary increase of 138%. Although the volumes increased, the average price of a car is relatively stable, with a slight increase of 7% - from 21,902 euro to 23,436 euro. The Chinese makes manage to offer competitive solutions, keeping an accessible position against European or Japanese competition. "The spectacular growth in the presence of Chinese brands on our platform reflects an adjustment in the perception of Romanian consumers. Chinese brands are no longer just a curiosity, but more and more often a real alternative for buyers, who choose them based on an objective assessment of the quality-price ratio and the technological innovations these vehicles offer. Diversification by price segment and engine type demonstrates the maturity and ability of these major market players to respond to the varied needs of Romanian customers," said Sorin Balan, Senior Head of Commercial Operations.   Demand is not behind, either. From almost 128,000 visits recorded for Chinese cars in the summer of 2024, the platform reached over 339,000 visits during the same period of 2025, marking an extraordinary growth of 165%.   Moreover, out of the total of visits in June – August 2024, over 90,000 aimed at new cars, representing 70,3% while in 2025, out of the 339,000 visits, over 146,000 concentrated on new vehicles, the equivalent of 43.1% of the total.   The top Chinese brands on Autovit.co.uk in 2025 is dominated by MG, which has 63% of all ads for Chinese vehicles and 58% of visits. It is followed by Geely with 16% of ads and 14% of views, Lynk & Co (7% and 5% respectively), BYD (5% and 15% respectively). BAIC ranks 5th in the ranking, taking into account the number of ads - 4% of the total. In terms of views, however, this position is held by DFSK - 3% of the total.   In terms of models, also this summer, MG EHS generated the most ads (14%), followed by MG HS (12%), MG MG MG3 (10%), MG ZS HEV and Geely Coolray (8% each). In terms of views, MG HS was the most searched MG (12%), followed by MG EHS (11%), MG ZS and MG ZS HEV (7% each) and Geely Starray (7%).   An analysis by price segment reveals the dynamics of change. Thus, in the summer of 2024, most ads were in the €10,000 - €20,000 (94 ads) and €20,000 - €35,000 (106 ads) ranges. In 2025, these segments exploded: 154 ads in the €10,000 - €20,000 range, an increase of 64%, and 269 ads for €20,000 - €35,000, an increase of 154%. In addition, the entry-level premium segment (€35,000 - €50,000) has started to take shape, with 19 ads in 2025 compared to just one in 2024.   Views also confirm this expansion. For the €10,000 - €20,000 range, the number of visits went from around 58,000 to over 118,000 (+103%), while views for the €20,000 - €35,000 segment jumped from 70,000 to over 181,000 (+159%).   The €35,000 - €50,000 segment, almost non-existent last year, generated more than 31,000 views in the summer of 2025, compared to just 125 in 2024.   Engine type preferences, also for Chinese brands, again reflect the global shift towards electric mobility. Gasoline engines, while still dominant, saw a notable percentage drop from 62% of all ads and 63% of views in 2024, to 43% and 40% respectively in 2025. In contrast, hybrids gained significant ground, reaching 18% of total ads and 14% of views in 2025, compared to 7% and 8% in summer 2024. Plug-in hybrid vehicles have seen an even more dramatic jump, from 8% of total ads and 10% of total views in June-August 2024 to 21% and 17% respectively in the same period of 2025.   The analysed figures confirm that the Romanian market is through a period of accelerated transformation where the Chinese makes are no longer an experimental alternative but a consolidated presence and continuoulsy growing, capable to compete directly against the traditional producers on all market segments.   About Autovit.ro   Autovit.ro is Romania's largest online platform for selling and buying new and used cars, with 3 million monthly visitors and over 1,000 car dealers using the company's services.   According to an Unlock Market Research study, 78% of Romanians interested in cars have used Autovit.ro to sell or buy a car.   Owned by OLX Group and with 25 years of experience on the Romanian market, Autovit.ro strengthens the relationship between sellers and buyers and provides access to reliable information and advice on the sale of cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, construction equipment, agricultural machinery and car parts.
