CCIB and Pakistan's top business body seal economic development memorandum

The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) and the Federation of Pakistan's Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding intended to promote and develop bilateral economic relations between Romania and Pakistan, CCIB president Iuliu Stocklosa said in a release on Thursday."We are pleased to participate in this meeting, which comes as a continuation of the one on June 19 this year, where we agreed to sign the first memorandum of understanding with a counterpart organization in Pakistan," Stocklosa said.In his turn, FPCCI president Atif Ikram Sheikh stated that the signing of the memorandum coincides with the 61st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Romania and that the initialling of this agreement represents an important step towards strengthening the friendship and cooperation of the two countries through mutual support. "Romania offers Pakistan a valuable opportunity to access the European Union market, whereas Pakistan offers Romania a gateway to the South Asian market and beyond," said the FPCCI president.According to official data, Romanian-Pakistani trade amounted to $260.01 million in 2024, up 14.26% compared to the previous year.Of this total amount, imports represented $64.04 million (+33.78%) and exports stood at $195.97 million (+9.06%).
