CCIB president meets Mexico ambassador, conveys Romania's interest in attracting Mexican investments

  President of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) Iuliu Stocklosa conveyed to Mexican ambassador in Bucharest Amparo Erendira Anguiano Rodriguez Romania's firm interest in attracting Mexican investments, highlighting the openness of the local business environment and the institutional support for entrepreneurial initiatives.According to a CCIB release, ambassador Amparo Erendira Anguiano Rodriguez was on her first official visit to the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the company of Benito Santiago Jimenez Sauma, Counselor and Head of the Chancellery of the Mexican Embassy in Bucharest.The talks between the CCIB president and the Mexican ambassador focused on identifying concrete opportunities for the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, with Iuliu Stocklosa expressing the firm interest of the Romanian side in attracting Mexican investments to Romania, and emphasizing the openness of the local business environment and the institutional support for entrepreneurial initiatives. There are already two strategic Mexican investments in Romania, specifically in the processed food industry sector: Bimbo group, which took over local leading baker Vel Pitar, and Sigma Alimentos, which acquired full ownership of Caroli Foods Group."With a view to strengthening institutional collaboration, the sides discussed the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the CCIB and a counterpart chamber of commerce in Mexico - either the Mexico City Chamber of Commerce, or the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology - COMCE. CCIB is looking forward to receiving the Mexican Embassy's official recommendation regarding the most suitable partner for this plan," the release states.The meeting also tackled the topic of the new updated trade agreement between the European Union and Mexico, the negotiations for which were recently finalized. The signing of this agreement is expected for the second half of the year, opening up new perspectives for cooperation and expanded access to the markets of the two regions."The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry reaffirmed its commitment to act as a bridge between the Romanian and Mexican business communities, promoting dialogue, experience exchanges and the development of sustainable partnerships," the cited source said in conclusion.
