Romania's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) continues to facilitate and strengthen the strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea in the defence industry sector, by mediating new investment opportunities and bilateral cooperation, according to a press release sent on Tuesday. Thus, following the visit made by CCIR President, Mihai Daraban, to Seoul, on June 10-12, 2025, a Korean delegation made up of representatives of some of the most powerful companies in the defence industry in this country, led by Byungro Choi, Vice President of the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA), visited the National Institute for Aerospace Research "Elie Carafoli" (INCAS)."The visit, organized at the CCIR's proposal, is part of the National Chamber's continued efforts to mediate and, at the same time, facilitate the process of identification and selection of Romanian industries and companies that will be involved in subcontracting a complex series of works and operations that Korean investors intend to implement in Romania in the defence industry," the press release states. Moreover, the role assumed by CCIR is to ensure a sustained and adequate pace in the process of issuing the necessary permits to fulfill the proposed investment schedule, the cited source specifies."Last but not least, today's meeting held at INCAS is also a preparatory event for the Romania-Korea Defence Industry Day Economic Forum to be hosted by CCIR on June 19, which will bring together representatives of the Romanian defence industry and their South Korean counterparts, thus facilitating the development of concrete and sustainable partnerships," further reads the press release.
