CECCAR: Fiscal system needed, that encourages responsible capitalism

October 31, 2024

Measures that contribute to supporting the business environment need to be expanded and a fiscal system that encourages responsible capitalism should be put in place, considers Robert Sova, vice-president of the Upper Council of Romania's Chartered Accountants and Experts Body (CECCAR), as cited in a statement.Together with the Daruieste Viata/Gift of Life Association and the Marie S. Curie Children's Emergency Clinical Hospital, CECCAR organized at the beginning of this week the event "Together, for successful projects", which brought together professional accountants and entrepreneurs. The important role incumbent on the state, through the establishment of measures that encourage the business environment to engage in social good causes was one of the subjects discussed at the meeting."The state - professional accountant - entrepreneur - civil society partnership can create a new business model, in which social good becomes a central element. (...) It is time for us to promote responsible capitalism, a business model in which profit goes hand in hand with the positive impact on our communities," said Robert Sova. The importance of increasing the number of companies that use fiscal incentives, such as profit tax redirecting, to support social causes was also reiterated.Representing the Daruieste Viata Association, Carmen Uscatu and Oana Gheorghiu spoke about the project that today offers some of the children cared for at the Marie Curie Hospital optimal treatment conditions in modern spaces, helping them forget at times that they are in a hospital.According to estimates presented by the association, only 50% of companies use the facility to direct 20 percent of the profit tax to non-profit organizations.
