The Board of Directors of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) decided on Monday to keep the monetary policy rate at 6.50% per year, the central bank announced in a press release sent on Monday.According to the press release, the Board decided to maintain the lending facility (Lombard) interest rate at 7.50% per year and the deposit facility interest rate at 5.50% per year, as well as the current levels of minimum reserve requirement ratios for credit institutions' liabilities in lei and foreign currency.'Based on the assessments and data currently available, and given the high level of uncertainty, the BNR Board of Directors decided at its meeting today, August 10, 2026, to keep the monetary policy rate at 6.50% per year. At the same time, it decided to maintain the lending facility (Lombard) interest rate at 7.50% per year and the deposit facility interest rate at 5.50% per year. The BNR Board of Directors also decided to maintain the current levels of minimum reserve requirement ratios for credit institutions' liabilities in lei and foreign currency,' the BNR said in its press release. The monetary policy rate has stood at 6.50% per year since August 2024.
