The Port of Constanta can represent a business opportunity for American companies, especially in the context in which it has taken over the activity of the 6 to 7 Ukrainian ports closed due to the war, being the 4th largest in Europe, says president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) Mihai Daraban. The CCIR President welcomed on Wednesday the official visit of a delegation from the Commercial Service of the United States of America (USA) Embassy in Romania, led by Eli Corso Phinney, Commercial Attache, visiting the National Chamber for the first time.During this meeting, the optimal solutions for attracting new American investments in Romania were identified, as well as the ways in which the two countries can get involved in large-scale joint economic projects."Very recently, I returned from an economic mission I carried out in the US, and what surprised me in an extremely pleasant way was the willingness of American companies to get even more involved in the Romanian market, which is an important sign of the confidence of the American business environment in the business opportunities that our country offers," mentioned Mihai Daraban. In his opinion, Romania's geographical position should not be overlooked, with its opening to the Black Sea and access to the Danube River, through which goods can be transported to many countries in Europe."In fact, during the economic mission in the US, we managed, together with the representatives of the American Romanian Business Council (AMRO), to establish some guidelines regarding a common platform for the reconstruction of Ukraine, when the conflict ends," Mihai Daraban stressed. In turn, the Commercial Attache of the US Embassy was delighted that CCIR is a partner in several projects with the US Commercial Service in Romania, including the Select USA Program, which has been a significant success in Romania, and in the events organised on the sidelines of the Indagra agricultural fair in Bucharest.Eli Corso Phinney said the U.S. Commercial Service is interested in a country-wide approach to identifying business opportunities for American companies. Thus, he added, we hope to participate in a series of events throughout Romania in the coming year. We will also continue to support Romania's desire to have a strong business climate and strengthen bilateral trade ties, he also mentioned.
