Chamber of Deputies/ Simple motion on agriculture - debated on October 20 and voted on October 22

October 16, 2025

The simple motion lodged by the AUR MPs will be read and debated on Monday, 20th Octobe stating at 4 p.m. to be under vote during the voting meeting on Wednesday, 22 October, decided the Standing Office of the Deputies’ Chamber. The AUR MPs lodged on Monday the simple motion against the minister of agriculture and rural development, Florin Ionut Barbu entitled ‘ When you cultivate lies, you gather shame. A cry for the salvation of Romanian agriculture from the hands of incompetence’.According to the initiators, ‘ the minister of agriculture manifested publicly and in a repeted manne a clear disregard against the famers who chose to protest, refusing to adopt a respectful tone or at least to listen to their legitimite claims’.Of the 14 demands made by Romanian farmers at the 2024 protest, eight have been trampled underfoot, completely unrealized. Zero results, zero will, zero respect. Just words and postponements. Three of them were touched superficially, hastily ticked off to feign interest. This is no longer negligence, but assumed incompetence. Minimum compensation of EUR 60 per tonne for losses caused by cheap imports from Ukraine? Not a trace, zero. Support of €3 per tonne per month for cereals stored between September 2023 and February 2024? Wrong, nothing done in time, zero. (...) Fair competition on the European market, invoked by you in all your public outings? An outright lie, zero. Non-compliant products continue to enter the country while Romanian farmers are suffocated. (...) Customs controls to stop the falsification of the origin of products from Ukraine? (...) How can you sleep peacefully knowing that farmers have lost everything, while the Ministry of Agriculture is bathing in justifications?', the initiators claim.
