Chief of Defence Staff: Europe's security is intrisically linked to that of Ukraine

Security of Europe is intrinsically linked to the security of Ukraine, the Chief of the Defence Staff (SMAp), General Gheorghita Vlad, stated at the Defence and Strategy Forum in Paris, which takes place until Thursday."We are aware that we all need to do much more for defence, and we are also aware of the fact that the security of Europe is intrinsically linked to the security of Ukraine. The Romanian Army will continue to support the neighbouring country, especially in terms of logistics and training, and will continue to join the European efforts made in this regard. At the same time, we will continue to invest in strengthening the defence capabilities of our country," the Romanian general said, according to a press release of the Ministry of Defence.On the sidelines of the forum, General Vlad participated in a working meeting organized by his French counterpart, General Thierry Burkhard, in the format of chiefs of defence from NATO, EU and partner states, which was also attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.The discussions focused on identifying and analyzing solutions and plans to end the war in Ukraine and guarantee a lasting peace.The Paris Defence and Strategy Forum (PDSF) is in its second edition. The PDSF is part of the tradition of major international conferences dedicated to defence and security issues. Leveraging forward-looking debate and interdisciplinary exchange, the forum explores the challenges and prospects of the return of war in Europe, strategic and geopolitical developments, information and influence issues, and major technological and societal transitions.This year's meeting brings together military leaders, leading experts, researchers, and security professionals.The agenda of discussions covers topics related to defence and security architectures and cooperation, regional and geopolitical challenges, and capabilities and tools available to armed forces.
