Romanian Chief of Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad participates in the NATO Military Committee and the European Union Military Committee meetings at Chiefs of Defence level taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, in Brussels, the Defense Ministry said in a release.The agenda of the talks includes topics of strategic interest, with an emphasis on cooperation, streamlining joint efforts and unitary responses to security challenges.On the sidelines of the meetings, the Romanian CoD will have several meetings with NATO and EU counterparts and officials.The Military Committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is NATO's highest military authority. Meetings at Chiefs of Defense level are usually held twice a year at NATO headquarters in Brussels, and once in an Alliance member country. The Military Committee may also meet in various formats, such as within the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council or for other, more specific situations.The European Union Military Committee (EUMC), the European Union's (EU) Common Security and Defence Policy body, is made up of the heads of defense of the member states, who, after the harmonization of national positions, propose courses of action to ensure European security, the cited source states.
