Chief of Defense Staff, visiting EUMS Director General discuss Romania's contribution to EU missions

Romanian Chief of Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad had an official meeting with Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan, Director General of the European Union Military Staff and Director of the EU's Military Planning and Conduct Capability, who is in Bucharest at the invitation of the Romanian side.During the meeting, the top brass officials looked at the results of the cooperation between the Romanian Army and the EU military structures, with talks focusing on the main aspects of Romania's contribution to the EU's defense operations, military missions and initiatives, with an emphasis on the support provided to Ukraine through the EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM UA) and through participation in capability coalitions, the Defense Ministry said in a release.The results of the collaboration between the Romanian Army and the military structures of the European Union were also analyzed, as well as the directions for strengthening interoperability and joint training, including through the European F-16 Training Center in Romania.General Gheorghita Vlad emphasized the Romanian Army's constant commitment to boosting joint efforts for strengthening the security posture of the European Union on the eastern flank.The visit of the European official is part of the series of military consultations between Romania and the European Union, aimed at increasing the cohesion and efficiency of joint actions in the context of current security challenges, the cited source said.  (Photo:https://armed.mapn.ro/)
