Classical Christmas Market, on Bucharest National Opera House esplanade

The Classical Christmas Market, the first Christmas fair in Romania to feature exclusively classical music dedicated to the winter holidays, was opened on Friday at 17:00 on the esplanade of the Bucharest National Opera House.The event organized by the Bucharest National Opera House and the "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir together with the Cantus Mundi National Program will be open until December 31 between 10:00 and 21:00.Covering no less than 12,000 square meters, the Classical Christmas Market offers visitors of all ages the festive winter holidays atmosphere and charm set in an impressive scenery, with various attractions, in a fairytale musical setting.A special caroling stage is ready to showcase children's performances and concerts under the Cantus Mundi National Program and more, there are Elves Workshops and workshops for the little ones, amazing sleigh rides over the skating rink, rides with the express mini-train of the Children's Comic Opera Theatre, a horse-drawn carriage, and traditional wooden stalls with holiday goodies and many other surprises, everything against a season's colored musical background.Visitors will be able to enjoy gift-crafting activities at the Elves Workshops, traditional food, nicely frosted sweets and mulled wine at the Christmas wooden cottages and many other surprises. The scenery is stunning, with huge angels, over five-meter high fir trees, special light designs aglow for an unforgettable December experience in Bucharest, the organizers say.Admission to the Classical Christmas Market is free, based on the green certificate.Several event performances are scheduled over the duration of the fair at the grand hall of the Opera House: the premiere of the century-long show with Wagner's Lohengrin (directed by Silviu Purcarete - December 8, 10 and 12), the Evening of Young Choreographers (December 14), the ballet show with Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker (December 15, 18, 23 and 29).Also on the bill are shows with Verdi's La Traviata (December 19 and 22), Mozart's masterpiece The Marriage of Figaro (December 18) and Puccini's La Boheme (December 29) organized by the Bucharest National Opera House, as well as the Christmas performance of the "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir titled "On the Christmas Journey" (December 16, 17).
