Claudiu Nasui is due to be sworn in on Friday as Minister for Economic Development and Digitalisation of the Republic of Moldova

The USR deputy Claudiu Nasui who will take over the position of minister of economic development and digitalization in the Republic of Moldova and Eugeniu Osmochescu, nominated for the position of minister of agriculture and food industry will be sworn in on Friday, announced on Wednesday at the beginning of the government meeting, the Moldovian premier, Vasile Tofan, informs Moldpres.Tofan explained that, for agriculture, Eugeniu Osmochescu will have the priority to ensure the streamlining the way in which grants are allocated, so that they are directed towards the areas likely to have the greatest impact.'I would like to thank Mr Osmochescu for his courage in taking on such a complex portfolio as agriculture. We need competent, principled people in that role who understand how the machinery of government works, because we have no time to lose. Eugeniu Osmochescu has proven himself in the economy, and it is very important that we also have this economic mindset in agriculture, because we have to make important decisions – decisions that are sometimes complicated – and spend the little money we have on subsidies in the way that has the greatest impact,’ emphasised the Moldovan Prime Minister. At the same time, Vasile Tofan spoke about Claudiu Nasui’s candidacy for the position of minister of economic development and digitalization. Tofan spoke about the latter’s experience in politics and in the private sector, including in the financial domain, as well as his previous activity as ministry of economy in Romania. According to the Moldavian premier, Nasui’s selection is motivated by the necessity of profound reforms in economy.'Claudiu Nasui is an experienced economist and politician; he has served as Minister for the Economy in Romania, has been a Member of Parliament, and has worked extensively in the private sector, including the financial sector. I believe he has the necessary qualifications. The reason we have put forward Mr Nasui’s candidacy is that we face major structural problems in the economy and we need courage to tackle them. He believes that the state must have the courage to cut excessive costs; he believes in lower taxes; he believes in fewer and better-managed state-owned companies. And I believe that this is entirely in line with the government’s programme and the challenges we face,’ said Tofan.   The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova announced on Tuesday two changes to the composition of the government in Chisinau: Eugeniu Osmochescu has been nominated for the post of Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Claudiu Nasui for the post of Minister of Economic Development and Digitalisation, currently held by Osmochescu.
